Finding and Fixing Separator Leaks

Objective: To explain how to properly identify and resolve Separator Leaks.

 

Step 1: Log in As Technician

Enter code: 741963 and press “login”

Step 2: Access Plumbing tower

  • Remove
  • Top Back cover
  • Lower back Cover
  • Drill Fascia
  • Work Surface

Step 3: Identify Components to inspect during test

  • Top of Separator and O-ring
  • Waste Manifold
  • Primary Vacuum Manifold
  • Bottom Of separator
  • Vacuum port B on Rotary Valves
  • Waste Drain Valve
  • Cleanup Wand

Step 4: Access Tech Pane and execute the automated Separator Leak test. 

  • Select the “Tech Pane” tab in upper right
  • Select “Tests” icon in lower right
  • Select “Separator Vacuum”

 

Step 5: Identify connectors to inspect

  • Separator
  • Manifolds
  • Valves
  • Cleanup Wand

 

Step 6: Check Wand for Leaks

  • Remove Vacuum wand from hose
  • Block hose end with finger
  • Repeat Manual Separator Leak test

Step 7: Check for Leak at bottom of separator.  Clean separator if unable to see through.

  • Drain Waste
  • Access Tech Pane
  • Turn on Vacuum Pump and make sure all valves are closed.
  • Suck up 1-2 cups warm water.
  • Wait for separator to reach max pressure
  • Inspect for air leaks at elbow on bottom of sump by checking
    for bubbles or foam in sump.

Step 8: Run Manual Separator Leak test

  • With Vacuum pump still on, note the max pressure of separator (15.5 in/Hg average)
  • Turn off pump and check decay rate (0.1 in/hg per second)

Step 9: Re-run test until it passes or defective part identified

  • Inspect previous work and correct as needed.
